Nowadays almost everyone knows computer, it’s quite impossible for a person to know nothing about computers in the age of technology. Computer is a machine similar to TV in some way, but much more advanced than the television. In fact, usually, there is at least one computer at home for every family.

People use computers to work, to study, or to play everyday, but do you know the history of computer clearly? Now I’ll share with you something about that.

“Who invented the computer?” is not a question with a simple answer. The real answer is that many inventors contributed to the history of computers and that a computer is a complex piece of machinery made up of many parts, each of which can be considered a separate invention.

What is computer?

A computer is a general purpose device that can be programmed to carry out a set of arithmetic or logical operations automatically. Since a sequence of operations can be readily changed, the computer can solve more than one kind of problem.

Development of computers

First generation: 1937-1946

In 1937 the first electronic digital computer was built by Dr. John V. Atanasoff and Clifford Berry. It was called the Atanasoff-Berry Computer (ABC). In 1943 an electronic computer named the Colossus was built for the military. Other developments continued until in 1946 the first general purpose digital computer, the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC) was built. It is said that this computer weighed 30 tons, and had 18,000 vacuum tubes which was used for processing. When this computer was turned on for the first time lights dim in sections of Philadelphia. Computers of this generation could only perform single task, and they had no operating system.

Second generation: 1947-1962

This generation of computers used transistors instead of vacuum tubes which were more reliable. In 1951 the first computer for commercial use was introduced to the public; the Universal Automatic Computer (UNIVAC 1). In 1953 the International Business Machine (IBM) 650 and 700 series computers made their mark in the computer world. During this generation of computers over 100 computer programming languages were developed, computers had memory and operating systems. Storage media such as tape and disk were in use also were printers for output.

Third generation: 1963-present

The invention of integrated circuit brought us the third generation of computers. With this invention computers became smaller, more powerful more reliable and they are able to run many different programs at the same time. In1980 Microsoft Disk Operating System (MS-Dos) was born and in 1981 IBM introduced the personal computer (PC) for home and office use. Three years later Apple gave us the Macintosh computer with its icon driven interface and the 90s gave us Windows operating system.

We have come such a long way with the help of computer that it would be hard for us to imagine what would happened if they wore not invented. Our entire technology is based on computers and electricity. Without these, we would be back in the Stone Age.

Computers are so important in our lives, they are like our friends. We should know more about computers.

In a beautiful day with sunshine, people like to go out and take photos. When they go home, they usually find the photos are not very nice and they need some tools to beautify them. So, Photoshop came into being.

What is Photoshop?

Photoshop was created in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll. Since then, it has become the de facto industry standard in raster graphics editing, such that the terms “Photo shopping” and “Photoshop contest” were born. It can edit and compose raster images in multiple layers and supports masks, alpha compositing and several color models including RGB, CMYK, Lab color space (with capital L), spot color and duotone.

We use Photoshop tools to change the settings of the images or to divert some relevant background. If you want to composite images together, there is no alternative of the mask tools. It is paramount to use the techniques of making the pictures real. Photoshop masking plays a very crucial role here.

What is a Photoshop Mask?

The masking tool in Photoshop is one that gives you the ability to control transparency in a much more specific way than by using the Opacity slider located in the Layers panel. Masking allows you to work with specific sections of layers to hide some parts and bring out others. It’s a better tool.

In order to change background or remove the settings we can use a mask that is very simple to use, and all of us can use it at first- hand experience. Photoshop masking has many tools to make pictures charming. Different tools have different uses.

Some masking techniques in Photoshop

1. The Magic Eraser Tool

This tool is so handy, because it can remove a background with one click. You have to adjust the tolerance level of the Magic Eraser, with the right setting; you can remove a great deal of the background. Another problem is that the Magic Eraser tool can leave pieces of the background behind, so it is a good idea to make a new layer below the image that you are trying to isolate, and fill it with a solid color that contrasts the colors in your image. That will allow you to see artifacts left behind.

2. The Magic Rubber

You need to adjust the background removal tool carefully to change the shape and color of the image. You have a chance of removing color and designs with one click. Mouse of your computer will get meaning if there are Photoshop masking tools. People use these tools to a great deal for the availability of background remover. The tools are cheap, handy, and colorful.

3. The Quick Selection Tool

The Quick Selection tool makes selecting objects quick and easy. It is similar to the Magic Wand tool, except that it has no tolerance. There are 3 options available in the options bar. You can set the Quick Selection Tool to always make a new selection, or you can set it to add to a selection, or subtract from it. This allows you to click and drag over the areas that you want to include in your selection.

Learn how to use Photoshop masking, your photos would be more beautiful, and your mood will get better.
